Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the usual Memorial Day parade and ceremony cannot take place. Instead, we will host a procession of emergency vehicles from Branchburg, Hillsborough, Montgomery, and Three Bridges. The procession will follow the normal parade route of Maple Avenue to Pearl Street to Olive Street and end at Pleasant Run Road. Today April 11th the Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company was proud to drive the Easter Bunny around our response area to see all the children of every age. The Easter Bunny was happy to see everyone who came out to see him. We would like to give a special thank you to United Rent All for helping us bring the Easter Bunny to Everyone today.
Earlier this week, the fire company was able to host a cubscout pack out of Amsterdam Elementary. Our very own, Junior Suarez, went over fire prevention and explained what it is we do. Tonight NVFC worked on getting a new piece of equipment in service, and familiarized with.The Akron Mercury Quick Attack ground monitor is capable of delivering 500 Gallons per minute of water while being unmanned, oscillate the stream, and be quickly deployed.Such equipment finds use in scenarios where the engine company may arrive on scene and find a large building, or large fire load, and deem it necessary to apply "fast, big water." Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company joins in mourning the loss of Branchburg Rescue Squad Life Member, EMT, and Past President Diane Hoffman. No words can describe the impact she has had on everyone that knew her. Diane's smile and personality is one that will be missed greatly.Thank you for your years of service to the community and rest easy. Our thoughts and prayers are with 74 Rescue and the entire Hoffman family. Mama D, you will be missed.
Today we were graced with the presence of jolly old Saint Nick once again. Santa teamed up with crews from Station 48 to deliver a few early presents to some special kids within our coverage area. Santa also stopped to talk to a local ballooning group preparing a launch. We hope everyone has a happy and safe Holiday Season.
On the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day landings, we pause for a moment and remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice upon those shores to ensure that the war would be won and freedom would return to Europe. We will also never forget those brave men of the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions that parachuted behind enemy lines in the early morning hours before the great invasion.We thank those that have served and continue to serve in the greatest military in the world.
Tonight the Branchburg Police Explorers visited Station 48 for a hands on look at fireground activities. The Explorers were able to handle various pieces of equipment on the apparatus as well as advance an attack line. NVFC would like to thank the Officers of the Branchburg Township Police Department for bringing the Explorers to the station and we look forward to more visits in the future.
The 2018 Memorial Day parade will begin at 9:30am on Monday, May 28. The parade begins in front if the firehouse and continues around the main block of Neshanic Station. We welcome everyone to come out and see the parade and stay for the ceremony on the front apron of the firehouse. Guest speakers this year include Branchburg Township Mayor James Schworn and Hillsborough Township Mayor Gloria McCauley.
In their continuing effort to provide the best services to the residents of Hillsborough Township, firefighters once again were at the SCESTA training toward their extrication Ops and Tech certifications. Members worked on various scenarios stabilizing, cutting and removing pieces of vehicles, and were introduced to some different ideas as to how to get the job done. All in all, a great deal of knowledge was imparted on the firefighters and they managed to have a little fun along the way.
With extrication responsibilities being transferred to the Fire Companies that respond in Hillsborough Township, more intense training will be expected from the firefighters. On a balmy June afternoon, firefighters gathered at the Somerset County Training Academy to be learn various lifting and stabilization techniques. Instructor Joel Lipman from GoldShield Team came to the station and put members of the Neshanic Fire Company through some wide area and oriented search exercises. Members used ropes, thermal imaging cameras, and verbal communications to search for victims. A huge Thank You goes out to Joel and his team for continuing to develop exceptional training techniques and for helping to make our members better.

Members of the Neshanic Vol. Fire Co. made the short ride to Station 37 to complete their air management training. Members took part in training that consists of several stations to determine exactly how much air is consumed and how long an SCBA cylinder will last under normal firefighting activities.
A 2015 Ford Explored has arrived at the Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company to serve as the new command vehicle replacing the 2003 Ford Excursion that had served the company for the past 12 years. This vehicle was purchased by the Fire Company and a special thanks goes out to 324 Customs for the installation of the emergency lighting system and also to Northeast Great Dane for their donation of the vinyl lettering.
This afternoon, the Neshanic Volunteer Fire Company welcomed home its newest addition to the fleet, a 2015 Darley Mini Pumper. This Mini Pumper boasts a W.S. Darley 1500gpm pump along with a matching Darley CAFS setup and a 300 gallon booster tank, all on a Ford F-550 chassis. The new Mini also has a 30 gallon Class A Foam tank and a Command Shadow light tower.
